Moseying about in the boundless landscape of the Peace Country, Miep is enthralled when a provocative portion of the landscape drifts into the halo of her camera lens or shares an elusive secret. A multitude of enticing plastic jars of various acrylic mediums and infinite colour possibilities beckon in her Charlie Lake Studio, as Miep strives to redefine a fleeting moment glimpsed outdoors.

Ah, but wait! Fashioning a Cyanotype Print with bits and bobs, pieces of photo transparencies , and various transparent films may prove a more interesting render. Nothing like permitting a piece of paper the opportunity for a suntan followed by a waterbath to coax the blue hues whilst satisfying a creative urge.

Perhaps a Watercolour Batik is the style of choice. The comforting aroma of molten beeswax wafting through the Studio as the layers of watercolour and beeswax tease out an image from a whisp of Rice Paper. Or, how about carving into a slab of lino, rolling slick ink on the glass plate, lifting a hand pulled print, or spinning the press to squeeze out an image! Always under the influence of a restless creative spirit, Miep is presently enticed by the lure of natural fibre. Luxurious, textured, dimensional, colour filled; utile and/or ornamental; biodegradable and sustainable; this medium has flared her imagination. Painting with wool! Sculpting with wool! The wondrous possibilities!nto the halo of her camera lens or shares an elusive secret.
