explore using safe alternative etching grounds.  B.I.G. is a versatile etching ground developed by Andrew Baldwin of Trefeglwys Printmaking Studio, UK.  B.I.G. has all qualities etchers know and love about etching hard / soft ground - minus the VOC's, plus it's easy to use.
 
This Etching with B.I.G workshop will cover:
- Exploring products and practices for a green printmaking studio
- Using B.I.G. as a hard ground and soft ground
- Using Coffee Lift as a Sugar Lift alternative
- Using Aquatint techniques
- Pulling prints made from the B.I.G. etchings
- Using registration prints with multiple plates
 
Limited to 14 participants.  
 
Supply list will be sent upon registration.  Please note:  Two 4" x 6" copper plates will be available for purchase, at the workshop, for an additional cost of $20.00 ($10/plate), payable to PRFCA.
 

Kate's bio:

 

SpacerKate has formal education in Art and Art Education from CEGEP Dawson College, AOCA, and NSCAD. Over the years she has taught children and adults.  She is a founding member of the Alberta Printmakers Society.  

Since 2015 Kate has established her own green printmaking practice through residencies at Zea Mays Printmaking.  Kate is active with Alberta Printmakers through teaching, committee work, studio projects, and studio rental.

In recent imagery, Kate has been exploring an intuitive and visceral response to the natural world, all while using safer intaglio media.  Kate has exhibited in local, national and international exhibitions.  Her work can be found in the Canada Council Art Bank, the Alberta Art Foundation, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, as well as corporate and private collections.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees are non-refundable. You may transfer your registration to another person if you are unable to attend, that person will pay the registration fee directly to you. FCA Peace River does not manage the transfer of payment between individuals. It is your responsibility to collect payment from the person you transfer your registration to.

Peace River Chapter of the FCA reserves the right to cancel the workshop in the event that a minimum number of registrations is not met. In the event that the PRFCA needs to cancel, you will receive a full refund. 

Waitlist

If this workshop is sold out, your name will be added to the waitlist. If we have a last minute cancellation, our Workshop Coordinator will contact you. If you still want to attend, you will pay the registration fees directly to the person who is cancelling their registration. FCA Peace River does not refund demonstration or workshop fees, or manage the transfer of payment between individuals.
