This workshop will focus on students developing a process for tackling the landscape in situ, so that a painting can be started and completed within one two-hour session.  Gaye will talk about planning a painting on location, composition and editing down a plethora of information before us into a workable plan.  Each day will begin with a demo, then students will work on their own paintings and will be coached individually.

Participant requirements:

  • Some painting experience is strongly recommended.  Plein air painting is more challenging than painting in the studio!
  • Oil is the preferred medium, which is what Gaye will be using throughout the workshop.  If students bring acrylics, they must ensure they have a stay wet palette.
  • Students will need to have their gear portable enough to transport it and set it up on location unaided by the instructor.  If you are new to plein air, please try out your set up on location before the workshop to see if you have forgotten anything or need to change your set up in any way.

You're invited to a Friday evening with Gaye! Free for registrants!
